Members of the Corps are supporting the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport to ensure the smooth running of the queue for Her Majesty The Queen’s Lying in State.
Over 100 FANYs are working alongside a team of voluntary organisations including the Scouts, Samaritans, The British Red Cross, and The Salvation Army along with faith representatives and will be on hand to assist members of the public wanting to pay their respects and keep them safe.
FANYs are specifically supporting the accessible queue to ensure that those with any additional needs are kept informed and updated from 0800 to 2000 until Sunday and provide support to anyone who needs it.
One individual who was helped by a member of the Corps commented that the FANY had transformed his experience of the day.
Laura Lean, member of the Corps, said:
“They really appreciated the fact that I approached them and offered to help with a wheelchair to assist them on their journey to pay their last respects to Her late Majesty. They were both really grateful for our assistance in making their journey from the hub to Westminster hall as efficient as it could be.”
